PP Cable

Privacy Policy

Last updated September 5, 2026.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) applies to WhatsGoodApps LLC (“WhatsGoodApps,” “We,” “Us,” or “Our”), developer of the What Cable? app (the “App,” “Service,” or “Services”).

As used in this Policy, “Personal Data” means information that relates to, describes, identifies, or could reasonably be linked with an individual, directly or indirectly. “You” or “Your” means the individual accessing or using the Service. “User Content” means photographs, images, outlined or selected portions of images, surrounding image areas, visible text, or other content that You capture, upload, select, submit, or otherwise provide through the Service.

Applicability: This Policy applies to Personal Data processed in connection with What Cable?, including User Content submitted to identify a cable or connector, identify the cable that fits a port, or identify a cable or adapter that may connect two devices; generated identifications, compatibility information, search queries, purchase links, Recent searches, Saved items, and other App outputs; subscription and purchase-confirmation information supplied by the Apple App Store; customer-support communications; technical information reasonably necessary to provide and secure the Service; and information processed by third-party service providers as described below.

What Cable? does not require a user account or login. The App does not use third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, crash-reporting, or push-notification SDKs. Apple may provide App Store distribution, subscription, purchase, performance, crash, diagnostic, or other information through Apple’s own services and tools in accordance with Apple’s policies.

Changes: We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in legal or regulatory requirements, Our practices, the Service, third-party providers, or other factors. Please review this Policy periodically. If changes are unacceptable to You, You should stop using the Services. Where required by applicable law, We will provide notice of material changes.

2. Collecting and Using Your Personal Data

2.1 Types of Data Processed

2.1.1 Information You Provide or Generate Through the App

Depending on how You use What Cable?, the Service may process:

Photographs taken through Your device camera or selected from Your photo library;
The portion of an image You outline or select and an area surrounding that selection;
One image for a cable- or port-identification search, or two images when You ask the App to identify a cable or adapter that may connect two devices;
Generated cable, connector, port, device, charger, power-supply, power-adapter, or compatibility identifications and descriptions;
Generated search queries, recommendations, product information, purchase links, retailer images or image references, and related results;
Recent searches and purchase links You choose to save on the Saved page;
Information reasonably necessary to determine whether a free search remains, track daily search usage, apply practical monthly usage limits, and manage related entitlements;
Subscription and purchase-confirmation information supplied by the Apple App Store, such as whether a Monthly or Yearly subscription entitlement is active or valid;
Device date, time, or time-zone information reasonably necessary to apply a daily search reset;
Information You voluntarily provide if You contact Us for customer support; and
Technical request or network information reasonably necessary to transmit, process, secure, troubleshoot, and return a requested search.
WhatsGoodApps does not receive or store Your complete payment-card number or other complete payment credentials. Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the Apple App Store, subject to Apple’s terms and privacy practices.

2.1.2 Photos, Image Selections and User Content

What Cable? allows You to take or select a photograph and outline a cable, connector, port, or relevant portion of a device. You may also submit two photographs showing ports on two different devices so the App can attempt to identify a cable or adapter that may connect them. The App processes the outlined crop together with an area surrounding that crop to provide the search You request. For a two-device search, this processing applies to both submitted images.

A photograph may incidentally contain information beyond the cable, connector, port, or device You want analyzed, including a person’s face or body, documents, screens, labels, model or serial numbers, background objects, surroundings, or other Personal Data or confidential information. You should submit only images You have the legal right and permission to use and should avoid including unnecessary Personal Data or confidential information.

What Cable? is not designed to identify people, perform facial recognition, authenticate identity, or perform biometric identification. We do not use the Service for those purposes.

2.1.3 Camera and Photo Library Access

The Service may request permission to access Your device camera or photo library so You can take or select a photograph for a search. Camera and photo-library access is used to enable the functionality You request. You can manage these permissions through Your device settings.

2.1.4 Identifications, Recommendations and Purchase Results

The Service may generate information based on Your User Content, including an estimated cable, connector, or port identification; apparent connector characteristics; descriptions of the relevant devices or connections; compatibility information; a cable, adapter, charger, power supply, or power-adapter recommendation; search terms; product information; retailer images or image references; purchase links; and related results. These results may be displayed in the App and, where applicable, stored locally on Your device as part of Recent searches or Saved items.

Generated identifications and recommendations may be incomplete or incorrect. The App’s processing of a photograph does not establish that a connection is electrically or physically safe or compatible.

2.1.5 Data Sent Directly to OpenRouter and AI Providers

What Cable? uses OpenRouter, a third-party service provider, to help analyze submitted images and generate App results. The App currently accesses Google Gemini 2.5 Flash through OpenRouter. OpenRouter may route requests to Google or other underlying artificial-intelligence infrastructure or providers supported through its service. The particular model, infrastructure, or underlying provider may change over time without changing the basic purpose of the processing described in this Policy.

When You initiate a search, the submitted image information is not analyzed solely on Your device. The App sends the information directly from Your device to OpenRouter for processing. WhatsGoodApps does not first upload or store the submitted photograph on a WhatsGoodApps-controlled server. OpenRouter and applicable underlying AI providers may process:

The outlined crop and an area surrounding that crop;
For a two-device search, the outlined crop and surrounding area from each of the two submitted images;
Visible visual information or text contained within the image data sent for analysis;
App instructions or prompts used to describe, classify, identify, analyze, or search for a cable, connector, port, device, charger, power supply, power adapter, or connection;
Generated descriptions, characteristics, search terms, or other context reasonably necessary to perform the requested search;
Technical request or network information reasonably necessary to transmit, process, secure, troubleshoot, and return the request; and
The generated outputs returned through OpenRouter.
If You do not want this third-party processing to occur, do not initiate a photo search. Without this processing, What Cable? cannot perform the requested identification or recommendation.

2.1.6 Web Search and Purchase Results

What Cable? may use web-search functionality made available through OpenRouter to locate publicly available information concerning cables, adapters, chargers, power supplies, and other products that may fit the relevant connector or port or may connect the devices shown. Search requests, generated descriptions, connection characteristics, search terms, and other query information reasonably necessary to perform the search may be processed through OpenRouter and third-party search, model, content, or web-service providers used by OpenRouter.

The resulting information may include product names, descriptions, specifications, prices or other listing information, retailer images or image references, retailers, marketplaces, product pages, and purchase links. What Cable? does not control the privacy practices of third-party retailers, marketplaces, websites, search services, or other online services that contribute to or appear in search results.

2.2 How We Use Information

We may use information processed in connection with What Cable? for the following purposes:

To provide, maintain, operate, secure, troubleshoot, and support the Service;
To receive and process photos selected or captured by You;
To identify or describe cables, connectors, ports, devices, chargers, power supplies, power adapters, and other connections shown in submitted images;
To estimate what cable, adapter, charger, power supply, or power adapter may fit a port or connect two devices;
To generate descriptions, compatibility information, product characteristics, and search terms;
To search for and display potentially relevant products and purchase links;
To maintain Recent searches and Saved items locally on Your device;
To enable sharing of a purchase link when You choose to share it;
To determine subscription status, determine whether a free search remains, enforce the daily search allowance and practical monthly limits, and apply the daily search reset;
To verify purchase or subscription entitlements supplied through the Apple App Store;
To respond to support requests or other communications You send to Us; and
To protect the security, integrity, and lawful operation of the Service.
2.3 AI and Automated Processing

The Service uses automated systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, search technologies, algorithms, and related technologies to analyze User Content and generate results. Automated processing may examine apparent connector type, shape, dimensions, pin layout, orientation, markings, labels, text, device characteristics, and other visible features; generate descriptions or search terms; perform or assist with web searches; and produce estimated identification, compatibility, and product recommendations.

WhatsGoodApps does not retain submitted photographs on a WhatsGoodApps-controlled server and does not submit User Content for the purpose of training its own artificial-intelligence model. OpenRouter, underlying AI providers, and search or tool providers may process or retain submitted data, prompts, outputs, technical information, or logs in accordance with their applicable terms, privacy policies, data-processing terms, security practices, provider settings, and legal obligations. Their practices may include limited retention for service operation, abuse monitoring, security, troubleshooting, or legal compliance.

Information about OpenRouter’s practices is available through its Privacy Policy and data-collection documentation. Information about Google’s practices is available through the Google Privacy Policy and Gemini API Terms. These third-party terms and practices may change independently of this Policy.

2.4 Local Storage, Recent Searches and Saved Items

Recent searches are automatically saved locally on Your device. A Recent entry may include the outlined crop and surrounding image area, generated identification or description, connector or device characteristics, compatibility information, recommendations, search information, product information, purchase links, retailer image references, and other fields displayed as part of the result.

You may separately save a purchase link to the Saved page. A Saved item includes the purchase link and a reference to its associated retailer image. What Cable? does not separately store a copy of that retailer image in the App’s local Saved-item storage, although temporary operating-system or network caching may occur outside Our control.

You can delete individual Saved items within the App. What Cable? currently does not provide a feature for deleting individual Recent searches, clearing all Recent searches, or clearing all locally stored App data at once. Deleting the App is currently the method for erasing all Recent searches and any remaining Saved items stored by the App on Your device, subject to device behavior, operating-system backups, restoration mechanisms, caches, and other technical limitations outside Our control.

Deleting a Saved item or deleting the App does not necessarily cause OpenRouter, an underlying AI or search provider, Apple, a retailer, or another third party to delete information that it previously processed or retained under its own applicable terms, legal obligations, or security practices.

2.5 Sharing Purchase Links

What Cable? allows You to share a purchase link when You choose to do so. Sharing is user-initiated and may use sharing functionality provided by Your device operating system.

When You choose a third-party destination, such as a messaging, email, social, or other app, the purchase link is provided to that destination under its own privacy practices. WhatsGoodApps does not control how a recipient or third-party service uses, retains, or redistributes information after You choose to share it.

2.6 Disclosure of Personal Data to Service Providers and Others

We may disclose or make information available in the following circumstances:

OpenRouter and underlying AI providers: The App transmits User Content, image selections, prompts or instructions, generated descriptions, search terms, technical request information, and generated outputs through OpenRouter so that OpenRouter and applicable underlying providers can perform image analysis and related functionality requested by You.
Search and web-service providers: Query information may be processed by third-party search, content, model, or web-service providers used through OpenRouter to return product and purchase results.
Apple: Apple processes subscriptions and in-app purchases and may provide WhatsGoodApps or the App with purchase, entitlement, transaction, performance, crash, diagnostic, or related information in accordance with Apple’s policies. WhatsGoodApps does not receive Your complete payment-card information from Apple.
Other service providers: We may use vendors or service providers for support, security, technical infrastructure, or other operational functions where reasonably necessary to provide or protect the Service.
Business transfers: We may share or transfer information in connection with, or during negotiations concerning, a merger, sale of company assets, financing, acquisition, restructuring, or similar transaction.
With Your direction or consent: We may disclose information when You direct Us to do so, including when You initiate sharing, or for another purpose with Your consent.
Legal, safety, and security purposes: We may disclose information where required by applicable law or valid legal process, or where reasonably necessary to protect rights or property, investigate wrongdoing, protect personal safety, maintain security, or protect against legal liability.
We require service providers that process Personal Data on Our behalf to provide protections consistent with this Policy and applicable law, subject to the nature of their services and applicable contractual terms.

2.7 User Content and Other People’s Information

You are responsible for the User Content You submit through What Cable? and should submit only photographs or other content that You have the legal right and permission to use. If a photograph contains another person or Personal Data concerning another person, You are responsible for obtaining any permission or consent required by applicable law before submitting or sharing that content.

2.8 Retention

What Cable? does not maintain user accounts and does not store Your Recent searches or Saved items in a WhatsGoodApps user account. Submitted photographs are sent directly from Your device to OpenRouter and are not retained on a WhatsGoodApps-controlled server.

Recent searches and their associated information remain stored locally until the App is deleted or the information is otherwise removed by the operating system or device. Saved items remain stored locally until You delete the individual Saved item, delete the App, or the information is otherwise removed by the operating system or device. Local information may remain in device backups, caches, or restoration mechanisms according to Your device and operating-system settings.

Information transmitted to OpenRouter or an underlying AI, search, or web-service provider may be processed or retained by that provider in accordance with its applicable terms, data-processing terms, security practices, privacy policy, retention policy, provider settings, and legal obligations. Because those practices are controlled by the relevant provider and may change, We do not promise that those providers immediately delete every submitted image, prompt, output, query, or technical record.

We may retain support communications, purchase or entitlement information, security records, or other Personal Data that We receive directly for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was received, to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, and enforce Our agreements and policies.

2.9 International Processing and Transfers

Your information may be processed by OpenRouter, underlying AI or search providers, Apple, or other service providers in locations outside Your state, province, country, or other jurisdiction. Data-protection laws in those locations may differ from the laws where You live.

Where required by applicable law, We take reasonable steps to use appropriate safeguards for transfers of Personal Data and to require service providers processing Personal Data on Our behalf to protect it in accordance with applicable law and this Policy.

2.10 Security

The security of Personal Data is important to Us, but no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While We use measures reasonably designed to protect Personal Data, We cannot guarantee absolute security.

3. Children’s Privacy

The Service is intended only for adults age 18 and older. You may not use What Cable? if You are under 18.

We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under 13. If You are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided Personal Data through the Service, please contact Us. If We become aware that We have collected Personal Data from a child under 13 without legally required authorization, We will take reasonable steps to delete information within Our control.

4. Third-Party Retailers, Marketplaces, Apps and Websites

What Cable? results may contain purchase links or images associated with online retailers, brands, marketplaces, sellers, product pages, or other third-party websites or services that are not operated by WhatsGoodApps. If You follow a third-party link, that third party may independently collect information about You under its own privacy policy and practices. Any purchase or transaction takes place entirely through the applicable third party.

When an externally hosted retailer image is displayed, Your device may request that image from the relevant host or content-delivery service. That service may receive technical information ordinarily associated with an Internet request, such as an IP address and device or browser information.

WhatsGoodApps does not currently track clicks on purchase links and does not currently use affiliate links. If Our practices change, We will update applicable disclosures as required.

WhatsGoodApps does not control and is not responsible for the privacy, security, data collection, content, or practices of third-party retailers, marketplaces, websites, apps, or other services. We encourage You to review the privacy policy of any third-party service You choose to visit or use.

5. Your Privacy Choices

You can control camera and photo-library permissions through Your device settings. If You revoke access, certain What Cable? features may not function.

You may decline third-party AI processing by not initiating a photo search. What Cable? cannot provide its image identification or recommendation functionality without sending the relevant image data for processing.

You can delete individual Saved items through the Saved page. The App currently does not provide a separate control for deleting Recent searches or clearing all locally stored data at once. Deleting the App is currently the method for erasing all Recent searches and any remaining Saved items stored by the App on Your device, subject to device, cache, and backup behavior.

Because What Cable? does not provide user accounts and stores Recent searches and Saved items locally, WhatsGoodApps may not possess or be able to identify those local records in response to a privacy request. If You contact Us for support or otherwise provide Personal Data directly to Us, You may contact Us at the address below regarding applicable privacy rights concerning information within Our control.

6. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will make the current version available through the App or the location where this Policy is published and will update the “Last updated” date when appropriate.

You are encouraged to review this Policy periodically. Changes become effective when posted unless applicable law requires otherwise.

7. Supplemental Terms for Certain Regions

7.1 European Economic Area, Switzerland and United Kingdom

If You are located in the European Economic Area (“EEA”), Switzerland, or the United Kingdom (“UK”), Our legal basis for processing Personal Data depends on the information concerned and the context in which it is processed. We generally process Personal Data where necessary to provide the Service or perform a contract with You, where We have Your consent, where processing is necessary for Our legitimate interests and those interests are not overridden by Your rights, or where We have a legal obligation.

Photographs submitted to What Cable? may contain Personal Data, including information concerning people, devices, locations, or documents appearing in an image. When You request a search, the relevant User Content and related request information are transmitted directly from Your device through OpenRouter to applicable AI providers for the processing necessary to provide the requested functionality. Search-query information may also be processed by third-party search or web-service providers used through OpenRouter.

When Personal Data is transferred outside the EEA, Switzerland, or UK, We use or rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms and safeguards where required by applicable law, which may include contractual data-protection terms or standard contractual clauses where applicable.

Subject to applicable law and exceptions, You may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or portability of Your Personal Data; to object to certain processing; and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may also have the right to complain to a competent data-protection authority.

Because Recent searches and Saved items are stored locally and What Cable? has no user account, WhatsGoodApps may not possess or be able to identify those local records in response to a privacy request. You can delete individual Saved items within the App and can erase all Recent searches and remaining Saved items stored by the App by deleting the App, subject to device, cache, and backup behavior. To exercise rights concerning Personal Data within WhatsGoodApps’ control, contact support@whatsgoodapps.com.

7.2 California and Other U.S. States

This section is intended to provide disclosures under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, and other applicable U.S. state privacy laws, in each case only to the extent the applicable law covers WhatsGoodApps and the information at issue.

7.2.1 Categories of Personal Information

Depending on how You use the Service, categories of personal information processed in connection with What Cable? may include identifiers or technical information such as network or request information; commercial information such as subscription or purchase-confirmation information; Internet or other electronic activity information; visual or similar information such as submitted photographs; inferences or generated outputs such as cable, connector, port, device, or compatibility identifications and product-search characteristics; and other information You choose to provide in customer-support communications. Submitted photographs may contain additional categories of Personal Data depending on their content.

We use these categories for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing image analysis, identification, compatibility, product-search, purchase-link, subscription, local Recent and Saved, support, security, and legal-compliance functionality.

7.2.2 Disclosure to Service Providers

We may disclose Personal Data to OpenRouter, underlying AI or search providers, Apple, and other service providers for the business purposes described in this Policy. We require service providers processing Personal Data on Our behalf to provide protections consistent with this Policy and applicable law, subject to the nature of their services and applicable contractual terms.

7.2.3 Sale, Sharing, Sensitive Personal Information and Your Rights

WhatsGoodApps does not sell Your personal information as “sale” is defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act. What Cable? does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising and does not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs for that purpose. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that require a right to limit under applicable California law. If Our practices change in a manner that gives rise to a right to opt out or limit processing under applicable law, We will provide legally required notice and choices.

Residents of certain states may have rights, subject to applicable law and exceptions, to know or access Personal Data, request deletion, request correction, obtain a portable copy of certain Personal Data, opt out of certain processing, and obtain information concerning collection and disclosure practices. We will not unlawfully discriminate against You for exercising applicable privacy rights.

7.2.4 Exercising U.S. State Privacy Rights

To exercise an applicable privacy right concerning information within WhatsGoodApps’ control, You may submit a request by email to support@whatsgoodapps.com.

A verifiable request must provide sufficient information for Us to reasonably verify Your identity or authority and describe the request with enough detail for Us to understand, evaluate, and respond. We will use Personal Data provided in connection with a request only as reasonably necessary to verify and respond to the request.

We endeavor to respond within the period required by applicable law. If We require additional time, We will provide notice where required. We do not charge a fee to process a request unless permitted by applicable law.
